With one of its most significant updates to date, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 launched both its first paid DLC, Brushes with Death, and its final free DLC. You’ll be automatically given access to the new content if you’ve purchased the Gold Edition or the Expansion Pass. The new mechanics and quests are spread out all over both main areas so that you can jump in from almost any point in your save, except those infuriating Points of No Return.
One of the fresh (and very obscure) additions is the “Bohemians Rise Up” achievement. While some of the other achievements give you a helpful tip, this one is entirely hidden. Unless you already know what to do, there’s hardly any possibility you’ll stumble into it by accident. This is where this guide is available to assist you.
How to Get The Bohemians Rise Up Achievement?
The Brushes with Death DLC introduces the new character of Voyta, a quirky artist you’ll meet in the Trosky area. Through his story, you’ll unlock new content like the Shield Painting feature, which lets you customise your shields by using any kind of symbol and pattern.
Bohemians Rise Up Achievement: An Overview
The Bohemians Rise Up achievement is directly linked with this system. Getting it will require painting three knight shields, one per central region of the Bohemian Kingdom. It’s not simply a matter of applying some crest to it, either—each shield must adhere to a very particular design, such as:
- A specific pattern
- Two identical colours
- The proper style category
- The proper heraldic crest
If that doesn’t make any sense, don’t freak out. In the latter part of the guide, we’ll break down exactly what symbols and patterns you have to employ, and how to make sure the achievement unlocks properly.
Shield Designs
Before you can complete this achievement, you’ll need to complete a couple of story beats. Two of the shield crests—Eagle Sable and Lion Argent—are located behind important quests within the Brushes with Death DLC:
- Eagle Sable is unlocked by finishing “Portraits in Red.”
- Lion Argent is behind “Judgement Day”, which is Voyta’s final leading story quest.
Because of this, Bohemians Rise Up is a late-game achievement—you won’t be able to knock it out early on. Once both quests are complete, head over to Voyta at either Kuttenberg or Trosky and commission the shield paintings.
Shield Details
Here’s the exact setup you’ll need for each shield. All three must be Knight Shields, and the details matter—don’t skip anything.
Knight Shield 1 – Kingdom of Bohemia
- Pattern: Barry Indented
- Colours: Gules (or Bordeaux/Carnation if Gules is not available)
- Category: Historical
- Crest: Lion Argent
Knight Shield 2 – Margraviate of Moravia
- Pattern: Per Fess
- Colours: Azure (Blue)
- Category: Historical
- Crest: Moravian Eagle
Knight Shield 3 – Duchy of Silesia
- Pattern: Per Fess
- Colours: Or (Gold)
- Category: Historical
- Crest: Eagle Sable
Shield Location
You can find Knight Shields at:
- Blacksmiths and Carpenters
- The Carpenter in Troskowitz typically has some in his inventory.
- Guards and soldiers (if you don’t mind swiping—but do mind your rep)
(Tip: If you do swipe in and your rep takes a hit, a Pilgrimage can fix that.)
Tips for Success
- Only equip Knight Shields: Other varieties of shields won’t count towards the achievement.
- Colour Substitutions: Are you missing the “Gules”? Try using “Bordeaux” or “Carnation” as alternatives.
- Equip in Order (Optional): Some players have success in equipping the shields in this order:
- Slot 1 – Lion Argent
- Slot 2 – Moravian Eagle
- Slot 3 – Eagle Sable
- Painting at Trosky Castle: This location works best when causing the achievement to pop.
- Achievement Not Popping? Try having a go at re-equipping the shields, saving/loading, or repainting them. Once you’ve got everything set up, the Bohemians Rise Up achievement should pop, leaving only one step to 100% complete the DLC.
